My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Albie Newton has the tough task of making friends at a brand new school and while his plan is sure to do the trick, it starts to go awry when he takes to dismantling the world around him for the sake of his invention. He causes quite the stir and his new classmates are angry with him until they see how incredible his creation is. He never really meant to make anyone mad. His heart is in the right place. He needs only to get the hang of social etiquette, sharing, and maybe asking first instead of just taking whatever he wants.

I like Albie because he is a tinkerer and creative inventor. I hope that he will get to have many more stories. Mostly, because I want to see what other cool inventions he’ll create with his classmates. The spaceship he made was the best they’d ever seen. What will Albie Newton make next?

Thank you to Josh Funk for consistently offering quality reads for my students. I’m to the point now where I will simply automatically add a Josh Funk book to my order. Even before I’ve had the chance to read it. I know I can count on him to write to my students’ enjoyment.

If you haven’t had the opportunity to read some of his other awesome books yet, you might want to check out my reviews of It’s Not Jack and the Bean Stalk, How to Code a Sandcastle, Pirasaurs, and Mission Defrostable.
