A mysterious package arrives on Ken’s doorstep containing a robot. Cool, right?! This isn’t just any robot though. I mean, the thing…I’m sorry, Greeeg put himself together. Let me say this again: the robot put himself together! Still thinking this robot is cool or might he be just a little bit creepy? I’ll let you decide. He eats everything in sight, causes things to go bump in the night, and may just get Ken grounded until the year 2039! When he and his friends unite, they might just have what it takes to keep things under control but they need Y-O-U. Join the EngiNerds and stop this craziness before it gets completely out of hand.

The bottom line is that EngiNerds is HILARIOUS! You will certainly want to use this as a read-aloud with students. I’ve read it with 2nd and 3rd grade and it has left us all in stitches. Even the kids who thought they were too cool to listen to the librarian read to them really got into the story. Honestly, what’s not to love about a farting robot? I’ve book talked EngiNerds to 5th grade students also and now there is a waiting list for who gets the next copy. In fact, I had to make sure I bought at least one more copy because I have to feed our students’ excitement. I never want to see that fizzle out simply because I don’t have enough copies.

Beyond the book’s humor, we’ve had some great EngiNerds conversations about friendship, not wanting to eat lunch in the cafeteria, what kids like to build, loving science and math, who wants to become an engineer, and the list goes on. We can’t wait to get our chance to connect with the author so we can talk EngiNerds with him! Jarrett truly has written a book that speaks to the heart of our students’ interests. We have all become instant fans. Bring on book two Jarrett, bring it on!

In short, read EngiNerds. Your students will be so happy you did.

P.S. I love the dog Kitty. Wait, what’s the dogs name? Yes, it’s Kitty-bwahahaha!!!
