The Legend of Rock Paper Scissors takes us on a journey through time to realms well known as we meet our heroic contenders. 1) The great warrior ROCK, from the Kingdom of Backyard, 2) PAPER, the smartest warrior, outwitted by none, resident of Mom’s Home Office, and 3) SCISSORS, the swiftest blade in the land, reigning from The Kitchen Realm – all of whom left their kingdoms in pursuit of a worthy opponent. When at once they stumble upon each other, an epic battle ensues that still rages on to this very day-ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS-SHOOT!
Drew Daywalt sheds light on the humble beginnings of the legendary stars of the game that 1) settles all disputes on the playground, 2) determines who’s IT, and 3) makes or breaks a champion. I loved everything about this story that abounds with wit, charm, and humor. I am reading this to every single student in my K-5 building. They are sure to L-O-V-E it as much as I did!
