Tomi Adeyemi has crafted a story that will pull you in, desperately turning the pages for more. It has left me with adrenaline laced blood coursing through my veins in the thick of the action as my heart raced in tandem with Zélie’s. My mind is still reeling with the thrill of the chase and I cannot wait for the next installment in this series. I’ve got my copy on pre-order and have since the fall of 2017. My mailbox eagerly awaits its arrival. I will buy whatever subsequent special editions may follow. You know, the copies that will have those shiny award stickers on them. The movie edition. The audio book, the t-shirts, the bookmarks, the character cards? Come on y’all, what else can we get? The fan art! Don’t even get me started on the beautiful fan art that has been created.
Speaking of amazing art though, can I just have a moment to gush over the cover? It was the cover reveal (designed by Rich Deas) I saw posted on Twitter by Tomi Adeyemi in late July that first alerted me to this highly anticipated YA release. I responded then with the same sentiment I still carry, saying that it beams with radiant brilliance and gives me life, declaring that, “I am black, I am strong, I am beautiful!” This cover is gorgeous and excellent in every way!
I don’t know that I have ever been as excited for a YA book release as I am right now and I agree with every fiber of my being as Jet has declared it, that “Tomi Adeyemi is about to take both the literature and film world by storm.” Did you catch that?
